LIVE from “Come Over October Events” – Texas Hill Country
Featuring: Bending Branch, Pedernales, William Chris, Serrano Wineries
My Associate Editor, Wendy Hatfield, and I are “LIVE” in the Texas Hill Country, visiting wineries for their “Come Over October” events. If you read my newsletter a few weeks ago,
“Come Over October – Entertaining Ideas for Connecting People with Wine,” you will understand that this is a world-wide movement by the wine industry to make everyone aware that wine is more than alcohol.
Wine is friendship, world history, antioxidant benefits, conviviality, hospitality, and a global culture connection. To that end, past Wine Wanderings articles express this historic and health-conscious view of wine culture.

Visiting Historic Fredericksburg: Where to Shop – Downtown Wineries
One of my favorite pastimes while visiting the Texas Hill Country is strolling along the Main Street of Fredericksburg, or Fritztown as the older German residents call it. Favorites stops include: The National Museum of the Pacific War, Vaudeville-Living, a French bistro and gourmet market. Allens Boots, Six Twists Sparkling, a Champagne bar, Fredericksburg Jewelers – native American jewelry making, Otto’s German Bistro, and Der Kuchen Laden, a gourmet kitchen store.
On a recent visit, I stopped by Serrano Wine, one of the newer tasting rooms, 411 E. Main Street, Fredericksburg, Texas. The winery was founded by former Paso Robles, CA vintners Sarah and Brice Garrett. See Interview with Sarah below. They offer an intimate tasting experience and are nestled near other tasting rooms and Texas-themed shops. I hope you enjoy their story and hospitality. Sarah Garrett and Associate Editor, Wendy Hatfield, discuss the grape varieties they use to make their wine in Texas.
