Spring Wedding Edition of Wine Wanderings
Wine Themed-Weddings, Wedding Wine List, Wine Country Weddings
It is a joyful week as my youngest son is marrying the woman of his dreams. They are a wonderful couple, and they have my heart.
Choosing Wines for a Wedding
For the last ten years I have been writing about wine and weddings, and have given advice on wine-themed weddings and weddings at wineries. In an article for Signature Bride Magazine I wrote “Weddings and Wine: A Fine Marriage. Choose the Perfect Wine for Your Wedding.” The article details how to choose wines and how much to buy based on:
*The Time of Day
*The Season of the Year
*Location of the Wedding- if at a winery, they will insist on their wines to be served
*Your Guests
*Your Budget
*How Much to Buy
*Reception Timing and Choreography
*The Menu
*Champagne and Sparkling Wine
*Cake and Dessert Wine
Wine Country Weddings
For tips and recommendations on selecting a wine country winery venue, see: “Wine Country Weddings: Vines and Venues,” Signature Bride, April 2019. This article includes:
*Tips for Incorporating the Wine and Vineyard Theme
*Recommended wineries for weddings in California, New York, Texas, Oregon, and Virginia
*Do’s and Don’ts for a Winery/Vineyard Wedding
Congratulations to Andy & Alisha. A toast to a long and happy life together.
I am often asked what wines I would serve at my family wedding. I have pulled some exceptional wines out of the cellar for this special wedding. Some vintages are no longer available so I have suggested a newer vintage date in some cases. Obviously, most couples will not have a selection as this, so I normally recommend selecting a sparkling wine, two white wines, a rosé, and two red wines to satisfy all your guests. A dessert wine would be optional.
