Wine.com: The World’s #1 Online Wine Buying Site and More
An Interview with Addie Wallace, Brand Manager, Subscription and Concierge Programs
Why Wine.com?
Full disclosure: Many of the wine URL links within any Wine Wanderings newsletter go to Wine.com. Why? My subscribers are in many diverse locations. I intend to give access to a myriad of wine brands across the world. Most local stores do not stock the 15,000 brand names carried by Wine.com. When I was doing my WSET® Level 4 Diploma of Wine studies, our tasting group members located in San Diego, Dallas, Napa, Chicago, Sacramento, and Miami had a tough time finding the same wine. Wine.com helped us. I joined the Wine.com Stewardship Program, similar to Amazon’s Prime, which features an annual flat shipping cost. Quite the savings on shipping costs!
Wine.com was named “2019 Retailer of the Year” by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. This interview with Addie Wallace, Brand Manager, Wine.com, details some of the enhanced programs being offered this year by Wine.com.
Virtual Tastings at Wine.com
I also attended several Wine.com Virtual Tastings. See my article: “4 Best Virtual Wine Tastings in 2020 Reviewed,” where I discuss the attributes of a great virtual tasting including one with Wine.com. Additionally, Wine.com was mentioned in the analysis in an academic paper, “Characteristics of Successful Virtual Wine Tastings: the Participants’ Perspective,” which Dr. Terry Lease, Cal Poly, and I and presented at the AWBR – Academy of Wine Business Research, 2021, Burgundy School of Business, Dijon, France.
Today, since March 2020, Wine.com has conducted over 80 Virtual Tastings now recorded for future viewing. My favorite is “The Pioneers of California Wine,” featuring John Charles Boisset, Buena Vista Winery (and Raymond Vineyards, Burgundy wineries); Jeff, Katie & Jim Bundschu; Gundlach Bundschu Winery; and Phil and Niki Wente, Wente Vineyards. You may still view this tasting on YouTube and purchase the Wine.com trio of wines offered.
An Interview with Addie Wallace, Brand Marketing, Wine.com
I was pleased to be able to interview Brand Marketing manager, Addie Wallace, of Wine.com. She oversees their subscriptions services and some exciting new programs including: concierge services; a personally-curated wine club called “Picked by Wine.com,” which handpicks wines to match your tastes; Stewardship Program, which provides enhancements for access to rare and reserved wines; and special VIP Wine.com exclusive events. You can access the interview by clicking the above YouTube video or downloading the .pdf transcription below. Let’s welcome Addie Wallace to Wine Wanderings.
